People are always asking for ideas to increase their income while working from home. I have worked as a teacher for a long time, but I always had a freelancing job. Every summer break, I would do multiple small projects to earn extra income. The best thing was that I was always working from home. In the past ten years, I have set up three software houses, and worked on two start up products, both of which I found on Upwork.

Where to find work?

So like I said, Upwork has always worked for me! I also know people have found jobs using Fiverr. These are the two websites I can swear upon. Adding to that, if you have your LinkedIn profile set up right, you can find work from there as well.

So the next question is, what skills?

Not all jobs can be done from home. (Doctors, nurses, electricians, need I say more?)

I have compiled a list of jobs that can be done from home. To learn such skills however, my favorite is udemy.com. I mean, you name a skill and they teach it. For introductory purposes, I have compiled a list of free courses for each skill so that anyone can get an over view. Another good website (that I have never used personally) is Coursera. Try it and comment whether it helps or not.

Where to start?

I would suggest to first review these skills and find out which one interests you. Lets say, you think you can do graphic design. Now, graphic design and UI/UX might both fascinate to you. So if I were you, I would go to Upwork and LinkedIn to see which skills are more in demand and start learning it.

YouTube Videos

Personally, I have very less experience here. But YouTube is not only being used for songs and videos, people are actually using it for story writing (aka POV’s), reviews, lyric videos, etc. It’s a slow way to earn but it works.
