Ingredients
Step 1:
- 1 kg chicken with bone
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 8–10 garlic cloves
- 4 tomatoes (halved)
Step 2:
- 1½ tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp crushed green chilies
- ½ cup cooking oil
Step 3:
- ½ cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
Garnish:
- Julienne ginger
- Green chilies (sliced)
- Lemon slices
Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Chicken
- In a pot, add chicken, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, and garlic cloves. Mix well.
- Place halved tomatoes (cut side down) on top of the chicken.
- Cover the pot with a lid and cook on medium heat (6.5 on an induction hob) for 10 minutes.
- Remove the lid, peel off the tomato skins, mash the tomatoes, and mix them with the chicken.
Step 2: Adding Spices
- Increase heat slightly (about 7 on induction).
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger paste, crushed green chilies, and oil to the pot.
- Sauté the chicken, stirring continuously for 4–5 minutes.
Step 3: Final Touches
- Reduce heat to medium (about 6). Add yogurt and cream.
- Cook until the water evaporates.
- Sprinkle garam masala and ground black pepper. Mix and simmer for 10 minutes.
Garnish and Serve
- Decorate with julienne ginger, green chilies, and lemon slices.
- Serve hot with naan or rice.
